Tell a little about yourself. Where are you from? What do you do?

My name is Roxy Olivas, an Arizona alum and IT Project Manager living in Dallas. I was born and raised in Hawai’i, lived in Los Angeles, Tucson, and Phoenix before moving to Texas in 2015. Being a millennial minority woman in tech, I was recently inspired relaunched my lifestyle blog, XanOlivas.com, with a mission to inspire women everywhere.

Talk about your first experience drinking coffee. Did you like/hate it the first time you tried it?

I started drinking coffee in college. I used to be addicted to energy drinks in college but it started making me feel jittery, but I never liked the taste of coffee. My best friend works at Starbucks so she suggested trying a caramel macchiato – I’ve been hooked ever since.

Who is your favorite roaster? Which Roast?

I’m a pretty loyal Starbucks aficionado – I’ve had a gold card since 2010 and have a pretty hefty mug/cup collection (basic, I know!) but my favorite is Peixoto Coffee in downtown Chandler, AZ. It’s a family owned shop that gets its coffee from their coffee farm in Brazil. I can’t pick a favorite roast because I’ve loved everything from the cold brew to the tea.

Favorite food/sweets to pair with your coffee?

A warm flaky butter croissant.

What would your advice be to someone who doesn’t drink coffee currently who should?

Coffee is definitely an acquired taste – there’s a huge difference between instant and craft coffee. If the reason you don’t drink coffee is the taste, definitely start with something sweeter. Cream and sugar are coffee’s BFFs.

Favorite Drink

I love espresso so it’s iced lattes and macchiatos with an extra shot, please!
